Re: Norton 360v3 (on Vista) general feedback

My problem is with 360.  Basically the Backup is garbage and slows my computer down.  I'm glad I got the premier addition with the extra space, because it's impossible to control what gets backed up.

Re: Norton 360v3 (on Vista) general feedback

This product is truely a pile of crap.  I unstalled (using the removal tool) and re-installed.  Norton has failed to start (Still spinning in the Taskbar) for over 1/2 hour on the fresh install.

As I do more research on the Internet, I can see that there is no way to delete what it has saved online (I think I had 15GB last time I checked when I asked it to backup a 4GB directory).  As well, the backup has been a failure since v1.

Take it out of your product if it doesn't work.

Re: Norton 360v3 (on Vista) general feedback

Worst program ever...If it was for not knowing about the auto-renewal...i would have gone back to my previous programs...Kaspersky and Outpost firewall. This program is a total waste of money...easy way to knock as many $$$ out of people's pockets without giving a rats **bleep** about them. :smileysad:

First of all they now focus on windows 7, leaving all Vista users almost out in the cold....updates don't fix the real problems (V2 was more stable and trustworthy than the now V3), helpdesk makes promises they can't keep....to anyone thinking of buying this pile of crap...STAY AWAY and buy the virus program from Kaspersky and firewall from outpost (or similar). NEVER will symantec get me with their autorenewal....and in the future I'll look for a pc which offers a virusscan/firewall from another compan!!!!!!

Re: Norton 360v3 (on Vista) general feedback

I struggled with the problem with it taking forever to start if the backup was enabled.  I ended up reinstalling and disabling the backup.  I dusted off my copy of Jungledisk (http://www.jungledisk.com) and now use that for backup.  After a few months I took an honest look at 360.  Vista and Windows 7 have disk defragmenting built in, the backup does not work nearly as well as Jungledisk.  Disk cleanup is nice but not that critical (saving 100 megs when I have 177 gigs free is not really that exciting).  I don't want my browsing history etc deleted.  I started having issues with my 3G USB modem after the latest Norton 360 update and I decided that I had had enough.

Yesterday I bought a 2 year license of NIS 2010 and I am very happy with it.  My PC is fast, the 3G modem problem was solved as soon as 360 was uninstalled.  I won't go back to 360.  3 cheers for NIS 2010!!!

Re: Norton 360v3 (on Vista) general feedback

I still have problems with Norton 360 V3.0

I tried un-installing it with the Norton removal tool. It is fine for the rest of the day but the next day it start to become slow again.

I disabled the backup and the backup overlay features. No effect.

Could the problem be related to Windows Updates (I am running Win XP Pro SP3) ?

When I reinstall N360, as I already wrote, it looks fine but usually the next day I get a notification that I have Updates available ready to be installed.

You should install the updates.
