Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.
First, can you confirm that you are using Norton 360 and that it is the backup function of that you are asking about?
If it is, I assume that it has told you that the backup has not been run and you have then told it to "fix" the problem.
I think what you need to do is set up a "Backup set" and then run the backup to some suitable external location (e.g. an external drive or the the Norton Online backup). To create a backup set, open N360, select Backup then "Manage Backup Sets". When the next screen comes up you need to select the appropriate settings for the "What", "Where" and "When". Then "Save Settings". Having done this it is probably best to run "Preview" to check that all seems well and so you have some idea how large the backup is going to be. Provided that gives a sensible answer then I would recommend hitting the "Run Backup" button even if you have opted for the scheduled or automatic timing for normal use. Once this is run Norton should not worry you about it again for some time and hopefully not at all.
I hope that helps. If you have any further questions please feel free to come back.
And whatever happens please keep us informed so that we can better help others in future.

Sorry that did not work. Its fine if you want to disable the backup feature, but if you do want to have it run backup I'm not sure what it is you expect to happen in a week's time.
If you want to try working through a few issues then just let me know and I will try to help.
