Norton Download Manager

I have Norton 360 premier edition, I've just found out that there's a new version I can upgrade to.

I downloaded "N360Downloader" and run it but a pop up window says: "There is a problem with this download. Please return to the download page and start the download again". I did this several times but it doesn't work.

I'm have similar issue in trying to install I-tunes upgrades and Windows 7 upgrades.

Can you please help?

Thanks,

regards,

Igor

Re: Norton Download Manager

Hi, Igor--welcome to the community!

To update your Norton product to the next major version, you should visit the Norton Update Center:

http://updatecenter.norton.com/

This should work better than trying to reinstall fresh using the Norton Downloader. It does sound like your computer may have another issue involved, though, based on your difficulties with iTunes and Windows updates.

Let us know whether the Update Center can get you the new Norton version, and we can advise you better on the other problem from there.

Re: Norton Download Manager

Are you sure you got the file for the same Premier edition?

Otherwise try the route suggested and if still a problem come back for more!

Please let us know how it goes.....

Re: Norton Download Manager

Thank you for your prompt answer,

I followed the path you suggested and this is what happened:

- first of all the download of the first file did not start automatically

- when I ran it, it identified the premier version

- when I downloaded the second file, the download manager, the system said "this file isn't downloaded frequently, it may damage your pc"

- I choose run it in any case from action menu

- the result is the same window I described in my first e-mail

I can add there's no icon on my desktop for the download manager

I have dual boot setting, Win 7 64bit and Vista 64bit, on the second one the upgrade ran smoothly.

Just another question, I'm a Norton users for many years and I faced some other issue in the past, I was helped by Norton customer service on line, is this service still working?

Thanks for additional support,

regards,

Igor

Re: Norton Download Manager

Igor,

I've had problems from time to time with Download Manager installations and with VISTA onwards I prefer to download a single installation file and start the installation by Right Mouse Clicking on the file and selecting Run as Administrator.

If you want to try this I suggest you clean up what you have at present after saving Identity Safe data if you use that by exporting the file. And make sure that you have a copy of the activation KEY from your present installation. You can access it in your MyNortonAccount if you go to that online, locate the entry for N360 and click on the > arrowhead to expand the information.

It should also be in a file called Key.txt that I think resides in the Eser / Application Data  .... Norton ....

If you want to try this then download the Norton Removal Tool:

This link will direct you to the Symantec Norton Removal Tool

Download that file and save it somewhere you can find it again.

Then download this installation file for Norton 360 2012 Premier

Download N 360 V5 Premier 25GB edition

Save (Not Run) to a safe place on your hard drive where you can find it again and if you do this on your other computer copy it afterwards to a thumbdrive.

Then run the Norton Removal Tool with a reboot afterwards.

And then run the installation file for N 360 V6 by Right Mouse Clicking on it and selecting Run as Administrator.

That should install you latest downloadable version available but will need further updating so run Live Update a few times with a restart in between until it tells you that you are fully uptodate.

Please let us know how you get on or if you have any queries ....

Re: Norton Download Manager

Norton customer service (the Live Chat folks that Krusty suggested) is great for subscription and refund issues, access to your Norton Account services online, etc. In short, anything that requires access to your customer records.

For technical issue like what you're facing, you're more likely to find the relevant expertise here with our user volunteers, who tend to be serious geeks with decades of solving problems with Norton products (Norton employees only get a couple of years in direct customer support before they get promoted or move on).

Hugh is among our most experienced Gurus (as you can see by comparing his stats to, say, mine! lol) so I'd go with his suggestion!

As always, good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Igor

Is your Computer connected to the Internet through Router?

If yes, Is there a Firewall Running in your Router? = If yes, Please disable that Firewall and check.

If you are using Internet Explorer, can you please try with other browsers and let us know how it goes.
