I just installed Norton 360. I also installed the $8.99 version of Norton Virus Removal. Question: Why would Virus Removak be necessary if the Norton 360 is working properly?

This specific Forum is for questions etc about the actual Forum system not about products.
There is a specific Forum for Norton 360 so I'll ask for your message to be moved over there or better exposure. You won't lose sight of it because a link will be left here.

Norton 360 is one of the best products at blocking malware infections, as many independent tests have confirmed. Yet, like any other security software, the detection rate is not 100%, due to the enormous number of new malware variants that are released every day. Using Norton 360, you are extremely well protected, but you are not totally bullet-proof. If you are not a hands-on techie who would be comfortable doing your own virus remediation, then the Norton Virus Removal service is an inexpensive way to insure that, in the event that something malicious did manage to breach your defenses, help would be at the ready.

Richard,
As said "Nobody's Perfect" .... and that Virus Removal Service you bought it is not an application in itself but a service that normally charges at least $99 if you go to it and ask them to remove some malware or infection that the Norton product did not stop .... possibly because much malware gets into the computer by (inadvertant) invitation when the user clicks on something that says No but acts Yes ....
Here's a Norton document about what I think you are referring to. Basically it's an insurance policy.
