Outlook Express Norton Spam Button Gone!

I run Windows XP 32bit with IE 8, I just updated to Norton vs6.0 and now my Spam Button is gone and the filter doesn't work. I tried something I read about disabling it in Norton and then restarting the comp. And then enabling it and the button comes back for one time. When I open it again it's gone again.

I have searched Google, Microsoft and your forums. Im pulling my hair out. Your Spam Filter is tons better then the Outlook filter.

Appreciate anyother help then what I tried.

Please provide the following information:

- Did you notice this problem after you update/upgrade from Norton 360 V5 to Norton 360 V6?

- Whether AntiSpam toolbar was working fine with Norton 360 V5?

- Version of Outlook Express

Try these steps:

1. Download and run Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool:

http://www.norton.com/nrnr

2. This will uninstall & reinstall your Norton product. After that, run LiveUpdate repeatedly until you receive all updates. You may need to restart the computer in between, and run it 2-3 times.

3. Open Outlook Express & check the status of AntiSpam toolbar.

The Problem started after the upgrade from Norton 360 V5 to Norton 360 V6. The AntiSpam was working fine before and my version of Outlook express is 6.00.29.

It worked for about 3 openings of Outlook Expreess. Then it disappeared again. I have to restart the machine to get it to come back. But everytime I close Outlook and then reopen it the Spam Button goes away again. Then I have to restart to make it come back BACK to SQUARE ONE!!

I'm having the same exact problem ECept I am using plain old Nortons security.

I just formatted my drive this weekend and rebuilt my machine with XP. I also run a duel boot, with my drive split I run Windos 7 on the other drive. Otherwise same specs.

Can you send me an email as well?

I also have the same problem. I'm running xp sp/3 with OE 6. It's been happening for over a year both on 360 v5 and 360 v6. I have to close outlook and reopen it to get the spam icon back. I'm now on 360 v6.1.1.8 still same problem.

Hi DanG & rkasse,

Did you try running the Norton Remove & Reinstall tool as mentioned in my first post?

If not, try that first and let us know the results.

Hi Harry

I am the one who started this thread. I have removed and reinstalled Norton 6.0 and Uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook Express as you instructed.

I also sent you all the information about my machine I could.

Now I am in surprise mode. The Spam button shows up at its leisure. It is there sometimes or it is not there most of the time. Its like a special gift from Norton. LoL. No Rhyme or reason or pattern to when it shows up. I have watched carefully. So when it is not here I just create a rule for the spam. Shame I love your spam filter. So Frustraiting.
