For some reason my picture thumbnails aren't working in windows 7. They have the generic picture I normally get with unsupported picture extensions, but these are good .JPG picture that have always worked. There is also a green check mark in the corner that Norton seems to put on files. Is Norton blocking these thumbnails?
I changed th icon status to large icons, medium icons and even small icons with no difference.
Any ideas on how to get the thumbnails back?

I edit my post. I was calling it preview, but meant the thumbnail pictures.
I'm using Norton Security Suite I get from Comcast for free.
Version: 6.2.1.5

Hi MarkJohnson,
The green check mark you are referring to are for thopse files that you have backed up with NSS. If you go to the main page of NSS, click on Settings and then in the right hand column uncheck Backup Status Overlays it will turn off the flags indicating that those files (pictures) are backed up. I use another backup system, so I do not use the backup within NSS, so I do not know if removing those check marks will return your "normal" looking >JPG thumbnails or not. I can not rememebr if they are changed once "check marked".
Please uncheck that setting and let us know if it provides any solution.

The checkbox got rid of the green check marks, but still no thumbnail pictures. I even tried folders on my server that don't get backuped and still no thumbnails pics.
Is there a setting in windows to change this behavior?

Hi Mark,
Try these:
Start > Pictures > Click on Organize, then Folder and Search Options. Click the View tab. Make sure that "Always show icons, never thumbnails" does not have a check mark next to it.
If no joy, open Control Panel, Click on the System icon. Click on the advanced system settings link. Under Performance, click on the Settings button. In the Visual Effects tab, Check "Show thumbnails instead of icons.” Apply and OK out.
Let us know if either of these helped.

sweet, that did the trick.
also, I messed up the preview myself and it wasn't norton's. I had set visual effects to best performance. Well, I wanted the aero back so I only turned on the aero interface by selecting an aero theme. I assumed it was changed in advanced settings as well, but I was wrong.
Thanks for all of your help
