I have updated to 360 Version 6 and we now recieve the following message when opening word documents.
WQe are using office 2007 and the microsoft website seems to to point to officeav.dll application. It suggests renaming but this is blocked. Does anyone have any ideas to rectify?

I have the same problem with MS Word 2007 after installing Norton 360 v6. (No problem before with MS Word 2007 and Norton 360 v5 before I updated to Norton 360 v6.)
The suggestion in this MS link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891986) does not work. It will not let me change the name of "officeav.dll".
Also, there is nothing wrong with any of my templates or computer. There were no problems at all with my computer or my MS Word until I installed Norton 360 v6. Ever since, I get the same error message described in the comment above.
Please continue to work on this issue and produce a fix for it through a 360 update?

Let us know the Operating System which you use.
You may not be able to rename officeav.dll because it is protected and secured by Norton Tamper Protection. Instead of trying to rename that, please try turning off the Microsoft Office Automatic Scan from the Settings. You may also try clearing up all the contents(delete) from the folder:
C:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Templates
[Username-your Windows user name]
Then restart the computer and check if the Word shows this same error.

Same problem here with Windows XP Pro (fully updated) and MS Word 2007 (also fully updated).
Please indicate whether a fix will come in the form of a Norton 360 v6 update, or through instructions on this forum about particular things that we need to do.
Do the relevant people realize how many businesses and home users still use Windows XP and MS Word 2007 (and even Word 2003)?
A little help here please?

Did you try turning off the Microsoft Office Automatic Scans in Norton 360? Instructions are provided here:
Did you try clearing the contents of Templates folder as per my previous post? Location of the Templates folder was provided there.
