I had the Norton 360 3.0 Premier Edition loaded onto my computer on Sunday January 10, 2010.
After it was installed I noticed a few odd things such as a script error coming up when I went to do someothing within the systenm itself (can't remember ) and a couple other minor issues.
The program appeared to work fine for a couple days with virus definitions be3ing updated every couple minutes. Mondya night even listed a few security issues resolved.
]I still had trouble figuring out the back up settings and I messed around wiht them a little and now every time I go there it asks me if I want to save the settings - how many times do I have to answer yes??????
Then I woke up Tuesday morning to find that Norton was gone from its usual location at the right had side on the bottom of my screen and when I clicked on it it would not open. It would not open when I clicked on the desktop icon either. Nothing.
I could not restart my computer - do not undderstand why - so I turned it off and then on. This seemed to work but it took an extremely LONG time to reload everything and for everything to be back in working order.
I checked the virus definitions and it had not been updated for 7 hours!!!! That does not seem right.
I have no idea what happened.
I had this installed by Norton as my skills are limited so I assumed everything would be OK.
Any ideas? WHat should I do? Doies this mean it was not workoing for seven hours?
My son used to help nme with all of these computer things - he was great. He was 25 and died last year in a car accident.
It pains me to have to to write about it. Anyways, without him I am flying blind.
I am afraid that it will keep doing this and I just can't take the risk of not being protected.
I am ready to throw the thing out the door, get a refund, and just use a library computer.

You had any other Norton product installed before you install Norton 360 3.0 Premier Edition? Do you have any other security products installed?
I think we can uninstall Norton 360 Premier Edition and reinstall it. You can uninstall it by running the Norton Removal Tool. You can download the Norton Removal tool from http://www.symantec.com/symnrt
Then download Norton 360 Premier Edition from the link http://www.norton.com/n360p_3. Install the product. It will automatically pick up the Product Key and will show the correct number of days remaining in your subscription.
Now whenever you need help in changing any settings, you know where to find us. For more information on configuring backup in your Norton product, read:

Hi Frerotte
Sorry to hear about your loss.:( It sounds like perhaps you received an engine update for N360. That usually requires a reboot or 2 to get it working correctly. You could also check your system clock on the lower right side. Click on the clock, adjust time and date and then internet time. Have it synchronize the time to make sure it is correct. If the time is wrong, then you can't get the updates like you should be getting also. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, this is the place to ask them and we will all try and help you. Good luck.

Thank you both for the information.
No other security programs running and in fact I helped the Expert Install person go thru my Add/Remove program list and everything seems to have been removed. There does seem to be something left from Paretologic Anti Virus Program that I had purchased and asked for a refund a week later due to terrible service. Every time my computer starts up an error message appears that it cannot load the Paretologic program.
I thought when I paid for Expert Install that all of these kinds of things were taken care of.
Anyways - I ran Malwarebytes and SuperAntSpyware scans last night and a Trojan was found along with a few Adware things. So far everything seems to be Ok except for the Paretologic loading error. I have not checked the script error. I work all week and collapse at night. I will work more on this over the weekend.
I appreciate the help.

Hi Frerotte
When you have security programs on your computer, removing them via add/remove does not do a thorough job of removing the program. Security programs go deep into your computer and they usually need a removal tool from the makers of the security program. I would advise consulting the company that makes that Paretologic antivirus program for a removal tool. If you can't get one from them, then perhaps a tool like ccleaner to clean out the remnants of that other antivirus program.
Please also post the logs from the scans that you did do with malwarebytes and superantispyware. Thanks

I am afraid to do any cleaning on my own which is why I had paid for the Expert Install - do you think that I could ask them to do this?
I thought that they were the experts and they knew about all of the programs I had on my computer originally. I had asked paretologic for an uninstall protocol and they only told me to use the add/remove feature. Perhaps I will call the number that Expert Install provided.

Oh - where/how do I post the logs you mentioned?
