Q-Search

How do you get rid of  "Q-Search" from "landing.savetubevideo.com"?  It pops up all the time.  Updates on Norton and other popular programs do not catch this. HELP!

Re: Q-Search

What browser are you using?  Have you cleared the browser cache (s).  Check to see if it is added as a search provider in Internet Explorer.  There should be a drop down list in the search bar at the top right.  You may be able to delete it from there.

Hello Larry-2525

If you're still having problems after trying delphinium's suggestions you might want to try a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes.

You can download it here:  MBAM

Don't forget to update it before the scan.

Re: Q-Search

Malwarebytes did not work.  I have had this problem for a few months.  Some sites I cannot even get to because of this Q-Search powered by Google keeps intercepting the intended site I try to go to.  Why can't Norton 360 delete this problem?  I have searched the internet more than a dozen times trying to find out how to get rid of this, but to no avail.  I have even downloaded several software programs to fix this.  Nothing works.  I use the latest version of Firefox and XP with all the updates.  I can't be the only one with this problem.  Thank You!

Re: Q-Search

Even a particularly pushy search tool isn't necessarily malware.  It is more a of PITA like the Keewee tool bar for IM.  Once you have acquired it, it is surprisingly sticky.

What kind of sites are you redirected to?  Does this affect more than one browser?  I don't think you said which one (s) you used.

Redirects can be a symptom of some of the newer rootkit/bootkit infections.

Re: Q-Search

When you mentioned trying IE it did not give me any problems.  I knew then it was a Firefox problem.  It was a bad add-on I had installed.  I removed Firefox from my computer and re-installed Firefox and everything works great again.  Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!    THANK YOU!!!!!!!
