Re: Receiving error message 3039,69638

It took me all day, but based on reading numerous web items, this is what I tried and it worked:

Go into Control Panel to Add/Delete Programs

Go to your Norton Product in the program list and delete it.   Save none of your existing data when prompted.

Restart your computer.

Download the Norton Removal Tool at:  www.norton.com/nrt    Note:  I downloaded and used the one that said:

"I have a Norton 2006/2007/2008/2009/2010/2011/2012 product "

After downloading, Run this program.

Restart your computer when it is finished.

When your computer restarts, RUN THE SAME NORTON REMOVAL TOOL AGAIN

Restart your computer when it is finished.

Download your Norton product.  NOTE:  DO NOT USE THE DOWNLOAD UTILITY.

I downloaded the software from:   www.norton.com/n360_5

Once downloaded, execute this downloaded software.

Restart your computer when it is finished.

Once restarted, Perform "Run LiveUpdate" using the norton product main menu

Restart your machine again.

Once restarted, Perform "Run LiveUpdate" using the norton product main menu again.

Restart your machine again.

Once restarted, Perform "Run LiveUpdate" again.    You should be current at this point.

I tried a variety of things over the course of the day, and this worked for me.   Good luck !

[ Edited ]

followed these instructions and also did a search for "nortons" and "symantec"...found a few things and deleted them before i reinstalled.  It seems to be working fine now..  thank you very much...had uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times already.

Re: Receiving error message 3039,69638

I too have a new laptop which was set up by the chap who does any work I have needed on my PC  I am a silver surfer and a woman to boot.  I have been having the same problem My Grandson uninstalled and then reinstalled it for me.  However the problem persists.  I am wondering if I would be able to do what you say has resolved the problem?  Advice would be appreciated

Hi,

I have no doubt that you can follow the instructions given but I don't think all of that may be necessary. A bit more information about your system would help. Also, what other security product is or has been installed on your system. Most laptops come with preinstalled security.

Thanks
