Restoring 10Gb of backed up Data - how long should it take?

Hi.

Since having a laptop stolen I'm currently trying to restore the previously backed up data onto my new machine. I had 10Gb of data backed up and the "Restore Files" window tells me it's "Receiving Files.... Progress 0.0%". It has been showing this for two hours and there has been no progress from 0%! The yellow meter bar is rolling which suggests something is happening, but how long can I expect this operation to take? I'm on a Broadband Fibre Optic Wireless connection with a speed of upto 10Mb. Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks.

Restoring 10GB of data from Online storage would take more time. Its better to split the data and then begin the restore process.

You have the option to choose the files from the Restore UI, try to limit the size to 2GB or so and then initiate the restore process. Once the first set is complete proceed with the next sets.

Shortly after my original post progress started. Slowly but surely we seem to be getting somewhere....presently at 6.1%! After 3 hours!! I was a bit concerned that I was still at 0% after 2 hours and worried that something was wrong with the whole process but it seems like we are finally getting somewhere. Thanks for your advice though and I'll bear your suggestion in mind for future data retrievals. It's the first time I've used these forums - it's a great service and seems very helpful. Cheers!

My computer seems to have finished restoring/downloading the backed-up files from the on-line storage site. How do I access the files that are supposedly now on my computer? I'm having a bit of trouble locating them! Many thanks.

Subsequent to my last post I have now managed to find the recovered, backed up files on my computer. Many thanks for your help though.

You can find the Restored file location through the Security History UI as well.

Main UI -> Tasks -> Check Security History -> Choose Backup in the Show dropdown -> Choose the Restore activity entry and Click on More details - Here you can view the actual location where the files have been restored
