This has to be the most annoying virus there is.
I ordered and downloaded Norton 360 yesterday, updated and ran both the short and full scan, deleting viruses which the program found. However, the program obviously did not detect SVCHOST.EXE which has multiple uses in my taskbar.
I wanted to know how I go about deleting this virus from my system.

first of,are you certain that it is a virus, and not M/softs Service Host Process svchost.exe?
Check out this link http://www.exe-error-advisor.com/svchost-exe and see.

Another good explanation of Svchost.exe, which should have multiple instances running, can be found here:
You do not want to remove these if they are the legitimate Windows processes.

Svchost is a Windows program that runs other programs. Virus use it sometimes to run and not be detected. Windows is horrible at telling you what is running under svchost. However there are other programs that can tell you what these processes are and let you kill them, take a look at this:
Don't be afraid of ending any process, just make sure you are not doing a defrag or have any documents open, because your computer might shutdown or freeze if it happens to be a critical Windows process.
