Safe file identified as malware

I managed with only a little difficulty to re-install N360 today. I continue to re-install the rest of the programs I had before my re-format, this included Media Player Classic 6.4.9. I had and was downloading it from CNet's Download.com (http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Classic/3000-2139_4-10518778.html?tag=mncol). However, when it finished downloading, Norton identified it as "adware.gen" and deleted it. A second attempt had the same result. As I stated, I had downloaded it before and CNet has it listed as "tested spyware free." Instead, I downloaded VLC Media Player. However, someone else may prefer Media Player Classic and I wanted to  notify you of the problem.

Re: Safe file identified as malware

Can you please advise exactly what Norton said and records in history and whether the file is quarantined or not?. If quarantined can you submit it for analysis? Was it Sonar that detected the file?

Re: Safe file identified as malware

Nothing is in quarantine. It seems to have been deleted. As stated, the file in question is avaiable at the CNet Download link.

From Security History, there are two entries for each attempted downloaded, but both have the same information.
