Sonar Advance Protection

I have an older PC that has Windows XP Media Center Edition; Service Pack 3.  Norton 360 runs for short time, then give message that

Sonar Advanced Protection not working.  I proceeded with the suggested fix - uninstall/reinstall.  Unfortunately, continue to manifest the same issue.  How do I fix this?

Thanks -

Mike

Hi, Mike,

Sorry you're having this trouble. How did you do the uninstall? If you just used Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove), there may have been "digital debris" left behind that could interfere with the fix, because of the extent to which security software has to integrate with your Operating System to do its job.

To ensure a clean slate when you reinstall, you should also download and run the Norton Removal Tool, after the Windows uninstall has completed, rebooting your computer when done. You should then be able to reinstall Norton to clear the problem. After activating the fresh install of Norton 360, be sure to manually run LiveUpdate, rebooting as it may instruct you, until it tells you that you now have all the latest protection updates.

Re: Sonar Advance Protection

Thank you for your response and input!  As a 'newbie', I'll probably have a few dumb questions.  First question I have:  when I began to uninstall Norton 360 5.0 through Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove) - it asked for my uninstall preference - - if I wanted to remove it, but retain settings (with the intention of re-installing it again), or completely removing it altogether.  Which of those options should I choose?

Thanks -

Mike

Welcome Mike,

Please do not ask dumb questions - there are only two!

First, if you don't ask you will not learn - that's dumb

Second, if you already know the answer you are wasting your time and mine - that's dumb

After that there are none!:smileyvery-happy:

Since you are going to reinstall the product select to save your settings. Keep us in the loop :smileywink:
