Symantec Network Security Miniport issues

I saw in Windows XP SP3 Device Manager under Network Adapters that there was an issue with Symantec Network Security Miniport #6.  I right clicked on it and clicked on Properties.  I saw under Device status that it said:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I saw this issue on the NIS 2008 forum but saw nothing about this in the Norton 360 Boards.

I have 5 questions

1.) What is  Symantec Network Security Miniport #6

2.) What is the purpose of Symantec Network Security Miniport#6

3.) How did Symantec Network Security Miniport #6 get in Device Manager cause I don't remember seeing it before

4.) Do I really need Symantec Network Security Miniport #6 or can I get rid of it

5.) How do I fix this issue

1,2: It must be the network driver what Norton use to secure your connections. As I know it works so, that it's under/over the normal drivers, and scans everything in the outgoing and incoming data + checks every port on them.

3: Maybe it crashed somehow, and that's because you saw it there.

4: Yes, you really need that.

5: First try the Auto-Fix tool. To run it open the one click support, and start a support session. First it scans your product to fix any known issues. If it's done you can close the window (if it's ok), or wait for the support guy, or come back to us with the results.

No, just click on the One-Click support in the main panel, and it will do the trick (as in my previous post wrote).

There's tree options as I see:

1. You can wait for the answere, this could take time. And maybe no solution at all.

2. Open the device managar, click on the driver's properties which has error, and try to click on Roll Back Driver, and see what it makes...

3. For me it seems that some files had damaged, so you need to repair (reinstall) it. Open your Control Panel, and go to the Add or remove programs window. There search N360, and click on remove. After the remove reboot. Download the Norton Removal Tool, and run it several times to remove the remaining norton files. Than (re)install 360, and see how the driver works.

I hope one of these can solve your problem.

Re: Symantec Network Security Miniport issues

Would you please give us that info when you get it? It would be good in the feature, if someone gets the same error.

Thanks!

Re: Symantec Network Security Miniport issues

Then I received another email from Symantec:

My system indicates that you had recently contacted Symantec for assistance in relation to your Norton 360. This e-mail is a follow-up to the previous response sent by our representative who had requested for some information in order to diagnose the issue you are encountering. Your response to the representative will be greatly appreciated since we are very keen to resolve the issue much to your liking as well.

Please help us to serve you better.

I responded:

I replied to that email and no one responded sounds like I need a new company to get an antivirus software from since Symantec is no help
