Symantec Service Framework Stopped Working

I am running Windows 7 Professional.  I installed Norton 360 and performed live update until no updates available.  Still receive message about Symantec Service Framework.

I have already completely reinstalled windows by deleting the old partition and starting from scratch.  There are no windows updates left.  There is no other security, virus, or firewall running.

What version of 360 are you using? Support - About

Is there a specific task you are trying to perform when this error occurs?

Why did you have to reinstall Windows?

Re: Symantec Service Framework Stopped Working

I cannot tell you what version as as soon as I open Norton it crashes.  I downloaded on Sunday 9/23/12 and was able to use live update to get all updates.

This was a new computer (HP Elitebook 8440P) that I had added an SSD.  I had previously installed Windows and all of the HP related software.  When I then installed Norton I received the service framework error.  I then realized that some of the HP software might be conflicting with Norton.  So I reinstalled Windows only with HP software that was required to run the computer.  Then after getting all Windows updates available I reinstalled Norton.  Same results.

When you reinstalled Windows, did you install SP1?

Re: Symantec Service Framework Stopped Working

I ran Windows update until there were no more updates available.  SP1 had not been installed.  I used the following http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2498452 and by following the instructions found that one Windows update had not been installed and the Intel graphics driver needed to be updated.  After doing both of those SP1 showed up as a Windows update that was available.  There were several more updates that were available after installing SP1.

After completing all of the above Norton 360 is running great.  Thanks for the help!
