Re: Symantec Service Framework errors with N360 3.5.2.10

Ignore my previous post guys as the problem has returned.Tech help was frankly useless and was online with them for over 5 hours and still not fixed. The thieves even tried to tell me we all have a virus and wanted to charge me $140 Australian.I soon set them straight on that.Six different techs including 2 supervisors and still no good.I don't know what to do now and my computer is unprotected,so apart from checking here I can't use my computer. Thanks for nothing.

Re: Symantec Service Framework errors with N360 3.5.2.10

Same problem here.  Much to my dismay, I upgraded to 3.0 from my old version 1 this week.  It took about 24 hours for this error to start surfacing.  Uninstalling and reinstalling does not solve the problem.  It will buy you anywhere from minutes to 6 hours of error-free operation before the error resurfaces.  I've reinstalled several times with consistent results.

Basic support is not trained on dealing with this.  I've escalated and am waiting the prerequisite 24 to 48 hours for a call back from a real tech.

If you go to this location you can download the built N360 3.5.2.10 and see if that works for you instead of patching your current versions to that level. It may be that the patch is not fully working.

Worth a try!!

Re: Symantec Service Framework errors with N360 3.5.2.10

Thanks, md.  I should have been more clear in my post.  I actually uninstalled the old version, then installed 3.5.2.10 from the ground up, as you describe.

I hope this issue gets sorted out quickly!

I thought that I would expand on mylast message.

At least try to give  Symantec some information that may help them fix this issue more speedily:

Computer - Intel 3 Ghz, 1 Mb RAM, 120 Gb hard disk, 50 Gb free

Operating System - XP Pro with Service Pack 3 - fully updated with all MS updates.

Other Anti Malware Programs - Free version of Anti Malware Bytes (For occasional scanning)

IE8

Details of error:

szAppName: ccSvcHst.exe
szAppVer: 108.1.1.10
szModName: msvcr80.dll
szModVer: 8.0.50727.3053
offset: 00014500

Action taken thus far:

Emailed error to Symantec help

They replied amd asked me to run the removal tool and reinstall Norton 360 from a download file.

I did all of this.

N360 worked well for about a day, and then started with this error.

I then checked the Norton 360 version, and it was 3.5.2.1

Icon on Task bar is no longer visible

At one tine when the error occurred I loaded Task manager.

The Service Host program was consuming around 40% for quite awhile.

Symantec, I hope that this helps you find a solution as quickly as possible.

I have one question: Is my computer protected in this state ?

Here is an update guys.I just spoke to Symantec Australia and it seems that Symantec are having a server issue and network issue regarding the updates that have caused this problem. They are going to call me tomorrow and until then, just wait. This is good as they accept the problem is at their end.Six previous Symantec employees fed me lies and they even tried to extort money from me claiming we all had a virus.LOL.Symantec really do need to address the quality of their tech staff as it is appalling. So for now I sit and wait with an unprotected computer.I will let you all know how it goes.
