Whenever i try to search in my firefox search url bar i get directed to this site - www.net.cn [screen shot below]
I would type for example google or any keywords i want to search but instead of going to the google results page which usually happens. Instead i get directed to this site.
I would really appreciate any help in being able to block this site and how if i can remove it from my search bar i.e. via Norton 360 or on Firefox?

If you are saying that all searches are directing you to net.cn then perhaps you have a virus. Can you try IE?
You can block a website using Hosts file, I dont suggest you need to modify NOrton 360. Best is to resolve if you have a virus.
Click the Kudos Star if you found a post to be helpful and informative. If your issue was resolved, select “Accept as Solution” on the post that best answered your question. This will help others when searching the forums. Thank You.

Hi Su20,
Run LiveUpdate from Norton 360 and then run a Comprehensive Scan. When it completes, restart the computer. Then click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. Delete all automatically items ticked and then delete all those files. This will delete all unwanted files from your computer. Again, restart the computer and run a Comprehensive Scan once. Check whether the problem happens again.

While your redirected searches may be a symptom of malware lurking somewhere, and you should certainly scan for that, it is possible that the redirects are being caused by malicious changes to your Hosts file. Follow the instructions provided here by Microsoft to use their "Fix-it" button to reset your Hosts file to its default setting. Even if this is successful, you should still thoroughly scan your PC for a possible infection.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
And i have gone through all of them but unfortunately it hasn't worked. I've done the comprehensive scan and the Microsoft fix me host fil default set but no luck. I'm not sure how www.net.cn has been stored. It shows up on both internet explorer and firefox after I type a keyword on the url bar.
I'm not sure what else i can do but thanks for the help.

I picked up on a post here:
http://www.redcafe.net/f8/why-do-i-get-chinese-web
I have the same problem as EricaNo7. I also have a mac (OS X 10.5.8), my browser also sometimes displays "www.net.cn" when I'm trying to load another page. As you can see in my screenshot below, the correct webpage address is still given in the browser. Erica is using Safari, it's happening for me on Firefox and I tried changing to Chrome and the bugger followed me over there.

I scanned with iAntivirus and it comes up with nothing.
The only other thing I can see is that the issue seems to come up after my computer's been running for a few hours, not when I first switch it on.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Jack

Reading both here and the redcafe.net thread, this appears to be happening on PCs, Macs, and even iPod Touches. It also appears to be happening on three different browsers - Safari, IE, and Firefox. There's only one common factor across all these systems and browsers - JavaScript. I would try turning off JavaScript. (In Firefox, it's Tools -> Options -> Content, then UNcheck "Enable JavaScript".)
Does this help?
