Typical internet connection speed

Hi all,

I want to know do there are some restrictions or advices which connection speed it is better to have to use 360?

What is the minimum allowed speed to have the product run as needed (without delays on update, downloading huge updates to slowdown the average speed)? What it the desired speed I use to have?

What tipycal and minumum connection speed I should have? Is it differs with NIS?

Thanks

Hi Petr,

If you have been running NIS,  you should not have any problem running N360. I think high speed broadband is required to use the Online Backup feature.  I am sorry I can't be any more specific,  but like all internet traffic - the quicker the better.

Perhaps someone else can you a better idea on minimum speeds.

Dave.

I understand that the quicker line I have the quicker it can work. But the minimum required for the backup and other syncs is my interest.

I do not think there is a technical requirement for connection speed.

It really depends on your tolerance for waiting for downloading or uploading files. Some are OK with dial up speeds, others will never get a fast enough connection.

Hi Petr,

There is no recommended minimum connection speed, but you do need to keep in mind that most users have asymetric broadband, and the upload speeds are typically much slower than the download speeds - so the time it takes for the initial online backup can sometimes take more time than some users may be anticipating, even with a fast connection.  The following chart will give you an approximation of the times involved for different amounts of data at various upload speeds:
