Upgrading to Norton 360 Question

Hi,

I have Norton Internet Security installed on my computer and my subscription ran out a day ago. So I went out and bought a Norton 360 Premier Edition today, and only to find out that my CD drive isn't working anymore. Therefore, I can't install the 360 on my computer. Is there a way to install the 360 upgrade over internet and then let me enter in my product code? (since I cannot install via the CD route)

Thanks

Re: Upgrading to Norton 360 Question

Hi RyanF,

Did you uninstall the older version?  If so, that may have removed the drivers that Norton 360 uses to backup to optical drives and left your CD drive missing.  The link below will direct you to a Microsoft FIx-it Tool that may solve the problem.

Cannot access CD/DVD after I install or uninstall Norton 360

If that fails you can download and install Norton 360 Premier from here:

I have already tried Fix-it but it doesn't solve my CD drive problem. It might be a hardware problem.

The second link worked, Norton is up and running now, thank you!!

Re: Upgrading to Norton 360 Question

Ryan,

Check in Device Manager and see if the optical drive shows up there and if there are any flags against it?

Failure is fairly frequent on optical drives but fortunately they are not expensive or difficult to replace in desktops.
