I had been running Norton 360 on an Acer with Vista. Yesterday when the update went in, I lost access to the Internet, even though the machine showed it was connected to my service. I also could not use my wireless printer. I also couldn't open Norton at all. Since I could not get to the internet, I uninstalled Norton using the built-in tool. Once I did that, I had access to the internet again. I had to re-install my printer software. I downloaded Norton from the web site, using my account. The same thing happened.

Do you have Vista fully up to date, ie SP2.?
Have you manually run LiveUpdate, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available?

Vista is up to date. Even though Norton gets installed, I can't open it to run LiveUpdate. Nothing happens. I can't ge to the internet at all, even though my computer shows the connection. Once I remove Norton, I can get to the internet. For now, I'm not using that computer to access the internet. I can do this for a while, but I may switch to a different product if I can't get this resolved.

There are no other security software programs on the system. I downloaded the nrnr tool and ran it. It did not find Norton on the system. I continued to my account and downloaded the product again and ran it. I re-started the system. I got the message that it installed successfully. When I try to open from the tray or from the desktop shortcut, nothing happens (again). I also cannot access the internet (again). I have never had this kind of problem before. My subscription expires next month. I'm moving on.

I understand if you want to move on, but there should be a fix here.
Download the Norton Removal Tool from www.norton.com/nrt This will do a more thorough uninstall.
Uninstall Norton from Control Panel.
Reboot
Run the Norton Removal tool.
Reboot
Log into your Norton Account and click on the Download button beside your active subscription.
After the download and installation, be sure to run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
Let us know if this helps.
BTW If you do decide to move to another security solution, you will need to use the Norton Removal Tool to fully remove Norton so it does not conflict with the new software.
