Virus Slowly Disabling Everything...

It's a bit unusual but I'm not sure how to remove this malware or virus. It started by disabling my wireless card at which point I used ethernet. Then it disabled Norton Sonar. I system restored, ran both full scans of Norton and Malwarebytes and found nothing. Then I noticed that my computer was restarting slowly and would stay stuck at the Restarting Windows screen. Now Norton has been disabled completely as has my keyboard, which all of the sudden is no longer working. What is going on? I don't even know where to begin to try and get rid of this. I was browsing a website and a virus attacked which Norton caught, but since then the computer has been acting funny and it seems like the virus is just slowly disabling everything on the computer. Can anyone help?

Re: Virus Slowly Disabling Everything...

Does the keyboard work before Windows starts to load,   Like say pressing F10, F8, F12 etc.

Re: Virus Slowly Disabling Everything...

Yes, the keyboard is actually working right now but it was disabled yesterday. I moved the USB port and reset the computer and it works. The Wireless is still disabled as is Norton itself. I booted the computer in Safe mode and ran Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. The first found nothing, the second found some tracking cookies but that's it.

What could this be?

Re: Virus Slowly Disabling Everything...

My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.

Here are the symptoms as my computer is still acting oddly.

-Disabled wireless card

- When I restart, restart takes a long time to shut down, long time to start up. Windows will load, then blank screen for 5 minutes, then finally it will start.

- D Drive not reading CD's when I put one in. I have to manually run them.

Re: Virus Slowly Disabling Everything...

ANY other user other than the thread starter is not to use any instructions, scripts or proceedures,  The work though in cleaning a system is individual and only for that system due to a number of factors.

Unfortunately, with the amount of threads means the waiting time is longer, Norton continually Blocking files won't hurt your system but is is just annoying, Please wait and be patient.   I am  trying to keep up, spending hours here to script and clean machines on a first come/first served basis. If you or someone adds to your thread It will be pushed back in line due to the new update.  I use the boards in reverse to what is seen

Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.

  • We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Do as the instructions ask nothing extra or run things twice
  • If I ask a Question just answer it, don't run anything unless it states.
  • Major steps used:

1. Find

2. Break

3. Destroy

4. Cleanup  (including system as a whole)

Please read every post completely before doing anything.

  • Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process.

  • Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forum, (sometimes :smileylol:)

  • Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.

Re: Virus Slowly Disabling Everything...

Ran it, unfortunately when I loaded it up my operating system would not appear under the "Choose Which Operating System you Want To Repair" portion. I proceeded with the scan but it did not create any .txt file. The menu gave me a choice of picking a driver or loading a driver.

Re: Virus Slowly Disabling Everything...

OK, you can't even figure out how to run the program, there is nothing to do.

Bye
