W32Koobface

I may have contracted this worm by accidentally clicking on a spam link. I have searched through my files but it appears that I am free of the Koobface. Is there any way of manually searching for the bug beyond Norton? I am currently running a scan.So far there are 13 risks, however I don't think that they are the worm.If I come clean with Norton does that mean Im ok or better check with malwarebytes as well?

Thank you

Todd

Norton should take it out.  I would run an updated MBAM anyway on my own machine just in case there were registry entries that needed correcting.

Hello cnwfan

In addition to what Delph said, I would also run a full scan with the free version of SuperAntiSpyware. This way you would have another opinion from a program which uses other set of definitions.

Here is a free on demand antimalware scanner. It is safe to use on demand with your Norton product.

Here is another site you can use to get the program.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/

The download button is on the right hand side. Please be careful not to download Spyware Doctor which is on the left side. Also, please don't forget to update the program each time before use of it. In fact you can update it every day just in case some malware may prevent you from updating it.

Thanks so far it looks like I am free of Koobface, Norton only showed signs of tracking cookies, but not Koobface.  If any more suggestions are out there Im all open to ideas.

I have compleated the scan on Norton, Norton did not find Kobface. Does this mean I didnt pick up the worm?

Re: W32Koobface

Hello dnwfan

I would still recommend the full scans with the free versions of Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Using these on demand scanners sometimes picks up what Norton's misses and often cleans up what is missed.
