Where did the 35 day 360Trial Installation come from?

What the hell just happened to me?

I start my computer, suddenly see all my Norton 360 protection red-flagged off.

I see I have a Trial Expired, must activate message and go what the hell, are you kidding me?

I did my 360 automatic subscription renewal last month, checked my account and it''s registered there, the number of days are correct, the product key is there  and the subscription renewal charge is on my last credit card bill.

But I also see a second 360 now in My Account with one licensed install, since I did download when it appeared I didn't have coverage and thought that might be a good idea.

I have no idea why I do, I don't want, I don't need it, I can't understand why it's there. Please remove it.

The only possible reason is that the download found some proxy settings because I was travelling in June and logged on at various hotels/homes in France and most recently a hospital in Spain.

Did that trigger it?

Or is this how you persuade people to upgrade, by giving them a trial and then setting off alarms?

Or is there something else going on that's way beyond my ability to comprehend?

I didn't really have the hour I just burned trying to deal with this.

But thanks for your time anyway.

Re: Where did the 35 day 360Trial Installation come from?

Hello, it's Altogringo again.

And please don't tell me that doing that installing knocked the Norton toolbar w/Identity Safe off my Firefox.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing it up there any more.

Am I am going to have to go through that whole rigamarole of uninstalling and re-installing again because this happened?

Re: Where did the 35 day 360Trial Installation come from?

You seem to have two problems:

A messed up subscription probably due to correctly renewing and then downloading which would give you a trial version until it was activated.

The only people who have the tools and the access to sort this out are the Norton OnLine Customer Support team so I suggest you contact them by the CHAT route as below -- this uses the computer keyboard and not the phone. All reports back here are that they are very quick and helpful.

To contact customer support Click on this link https://www.norton.com/chat   and work on from there.

A missing toolbar with Firefox. I don't know a lot about this since I don't use Firefox or the Norton Toolbar but as you know FF upgrades very frequently and if you have the latest --14.01 ??? -- then there has been a LiveUpdate to deal with this.

So once you get your subscription sorted out make sure that you are fully uptodate as indicated in that announcement.

I hope that is enough to sort things out for you but if not please let us know and someone will be able to help you.

Please let us know how you get on ....

Re: Where did the 35 day 360Trial Installation come from?

Your toolbar will not work if your subscription is showing as expired. Try clicking on Support - Subscription Status to synch your computer with the subscription server. If that still shows expired, click on renew from the main 360 screen. Look for the link to renew, and enter your new key.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.

Re: Where did the 35 day 360Trial Installation come from?

David, thanks for your input but I knew about the key, it was the extra Trial Installation program that threw me since I had just renewed my subscription. I talked with Norton chat and apparently it was a temporary Symantec server issue. Everything with my Norton 360 is working properly now.

I talked with Norton chat as you suggested and apparently it was a temporary Symantec server issue vis a vis subscription days. Everything with my Norton 360 is working properly now and the toolbar reappeared.

Thanks for your input, it was very helpful.

Re: Where did the 35 day 360Trial Installation come from?

Thanks, Peter, that was helpful to know the toolbar disappears if the subscription lists as expired. I talked with Norton chat as Hugh suggested and apparently it was a temporary Symantec server issue vis a vis subscription days. Everything with my Norton 360 is working properly now and the toolbar reappeared without any prompting or effort on my part.
