I have been running Norton 360 v4.0 for a long time now and have NEVER had any problems whatsoever. Until today that is.
I am running Win7 64-bit Ultimate SP1 with IE8 v8.0.7601.17514.
I signed onto IE today and got an instant IE has stopped working - windows is trying to find a solution to the problem. It forced me to shutdown IE and so I had to find which add-on was messing it up. Narrowed it down to the Symantec Intrusion Prevention add-on.
Is anyone else running into this problem lately? Is it b/c 360 v5.0 just came out? Do I need to update IE? Windows Update found no updates for me.
I have read a lot about others having similar issues but with other OS's. Any advice would be GREATLY appriciated.

I am experiencing the same issue with NIS2011 and N360v5 as of about an hour ago.
I have reported it to the Symantec Staff.
Hang in there!

I'm using Norton's 360, IE 8, and Windows 7. IE8 gives me a message "Internet Explorer has stopped working." I disabled my add-ons and enabled them one at a time to see which was a problem. Symantec NCO BHO and Symantec Intrusion Prevention are the problem. What do I do? What happens if I leave them diabled?

Hi nsmontgomery,
This is an issue that has just occurred, and which Symantec is looking into - it is not just you.

Computer was running fine this morning.
Came back from work in the afternoon (Did not turn off computer)
IE8 would crash on launch.
Unable to restore to previousrestore point.
Started disabling add-ons and discovered that Symantec Intrusion Prevention may be culprit.
Running Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate
NAV2011
No no newer updates available for NAV.
No viruses found.
Help Please
Thank You

Hi everyone,
If you're experiencing this issue, I recommend that you run LiveUpdate now to get the updated IPS definitions. This should resolve the problem. Please let us know if this fixes the issue for you. Thanks!

My problems started as soon as the LiveUpdate for March 1 completed. Unless you fixed it in the last 2 minutes I am not sure it will work.
I was able to recover two of my systems by doing a System Restore Point from about a week ago.
My third system had problems with System Restore, and thus it is still having problems with IE 8. I am running a live update on that right now. I'll let you know how it works out.
Please advise when the real fix is in.

That seems to have fixed the problem Tony. I had the exact same issue as above, without a reboot of the computer. Just a bad update.
Thanks to Norton/Symantec for a quick update.
