I really need to know if my computer is being protected at all times because it seems my computer startup is SOOoO slow lately and I have no idea why....so WHAT DO THESE MEAN? DO I HAVE A 'vulnerability'?
In Norton History:
1) NDIS Filtering is Enabled - this is the FIRST TIME I have ever seen this in my Norton360 history.....what changed?
and
2) 'Light Silent Mode' turned on at 6:14pm 'Light Silent Mode' turned off at 6:14pm then turned on at 6:15pm then again turned off at 6:16pm
what does all the on/off stuff mean? Does this mean I have some type 'infoStealer' software that's temporarily disables NORTON360 - sends info then enables it again? I'd just like to know why it did this...
Norton History says:
3.) IP address has disappeared from adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface & is no longer being protected (IP address:****) time 6:36pm
and
4.) IP address has disappeared from adapter Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card and is no longer being protected (IP address:****) time 6:34pm
SO DOES THIS MEAN THAT WHEN THESE TWO THINGS HAPPEN I AM NOT PROTECTED?
Thank you guys again and so far Symantec Service has been EXCELLENT...this best company I've EVER dealt with on computer security issues...and I've used just about all of them!
Oh, and please don't take this the wrong way or decide not to help me because of what I'm going to say...but this 'New Forums'...I don't like it....and when I read you guys conversations about 'squinnty eyes' and 'working with people 36hours straight just waiting to give them the next step' and 'potentials for getting personal information with logs/reports' MAN dudes....for some one like me that's almost like reading some hacker blogs where there talking about how they get there info and stuff...but anyway just my opinion...
Anyway...PLEASE can you let me know what the above events mean?
ALSO N360 'registry cleanup' is ALWAYS turned off...how can I make this action/option stay on and always be on?
Solved! Go to Solution.

Regarding Silent Mode; did you run an application that went full-screen during that timeframe eg a full screen Youtube video? Check out the Norton Help file for a detailed explanation of Silent Mode.
Regarding 'IP address has disappeared...'; did you switch off your router or modem around that timeframe? You'll usually see this message when your internet connection is lost.

Yes 'Elsewhere' I did n360 have full screen for a minute or so...So I quess your saying that if i have FULLScREEn then N360 will do the 'silent mode' thing? Wow that's weird to me but if thats it then THANK YOU SO MUCH for letting me know, I do a full screen thing almost never maybe that's why I have never seen N360 mention the silent mode thing 'on/off/on/off' before
As for the IP disappearing...NO i did not turn anything off and NEVER lose internet connection but i get the 'disappearing IP...' on a continual basis...have had that problem for at least 4months (same time I got N360) and have never been given any real explanation as to why it happens....
If I'm at my home using my secure ATT internet this disappearing IP will happen at least a half a dozen times within an hour (but NEVER lose internet connection or have things turned off....)
BUT any other place I use my computer (hotels, friends home both secure & non secure password protected) N360 NEVER has the problem of losing IP...it only happens at my home
ANY idea's?
And thank you for attempting to help me....wish other people that know more would give idea's and help like you
OH and the 'Registry Cleanup' is always turned off.....any idea's on to why?

Hi aaaja2044:
The NDIS is a mechanism for filtering data, which is what a firewall does. It is a simplistic explanation, and more info of a technical nature can be found in a Google search for NDIS.
As explained by elsewhere, when you have a full screen application, the light silent mode suppresses some Norton notifications or activities that might interfere with what you are doing.
There are two forms of communication for ISP's to provide service. IPV4 which is the most common and is becoming increasingly crowded. There is a move on to change to IPV6. For this reason, Norton is already set up to handle the change. Since the change has not taken place, the IP address for the IPV6 Teredo tunnelling disappears and is not required. In this case, not protected means not required, therefore not p[rotected.
With the Dell wireless adapter, it seems more likely that your ISP has renewed the "lease" on the IP adress that allows your connection. Your computer may still show that it is connected to the adapter, but the address may have changed. If so, you are lucky. My service provider dumps me right off the net to renew the lease. It's very annoying!!!
I think the registry cleaner is turned off by default as it is an optional choice. You can simply turn it on. If you have another registry cleaner running in the background, it could also interfere with N360.
Hope that helps.

Hi aaaja2044..
I see you are getting plenty of information from others..
You wrote..
I really need to know if my computer is being protected at all times because it seems my computer startup is SOOoO slow lately and I have no idea why..
----------------------..
I'm using the v4 beta, so not sure if it's the same in N360 v3, but with v4, if you click 'Settings' at the top of the Norton window, then click:-..
'Antivirus', then click 'Automatic protection', is the 'Early Load' turned ON, this should be ON for maximum protection..
Back to 'Settings' and click :--..
'Administrative Settings', then scroll down to bottom, and check what setting you've got for 'Automatic Tasks Delay'..The default here is 10 minutes, to help improve your start up time..
You can adjust this setting by the dropdown..
Don't know if these are in v3, or if it will help you..
