The NDIS is a mechanism for filtering data, which is what a firewall does. It is a simplistic explanation, and more info of a technical nature can be found in a Google search for NDIS.
As explained by elsewhere, when you have a full screen application, the light silent mode suppresses some Norton notifications or activities that might interfere with what you are doing.
There are two forms of communication for ISP's to provide service. IPV4 which is the most common and is becoming increasingly crowded. There is a move on to change to IPV6. For this reason, Norton is already set up to handle the change. Since the change has not taken place, the IP address for the IPV6 Teredo tunnelling disappears and is not required. In this case, not protected means not required, therefore not p[rotected.
With the Dell wireless adapter, it seems more likely that your ISP has renewed the "lease" on the IP adress that allows your connection. Your computer may still show that it is connected to the adapter, but the address may have changed. If so, you are lucky. My service provider dumps me right off the net to renew the lease. It's very annoying!!!
I think the registry cleaner is turned off by default as it is an optional choice. You can simply turn it on. If you have another registry cleaner running in the background, it could also interfere with N360.
