I (and many other World of Warcraft players) am getting the message that an integral file in WoW is an infostealer virus. I am not sure what to do, but on their forums their moderators have said it is indeed a false positive by Norton and that we need to wait until a fix is implemented by you.
Pleasse Help :(

Hi anyer,
Please submit the file to Symantec over here if you think that it is a false positive:

Hi, anyer
As yourself ive had the same problem, i must say i was shocked as im very careful of what i access on the internet and what not. All though i realise im not the most tech savy person out there i will be watching this space. As a WoW player after getting this i havent logged in and change my password, i dare say an over reaction but yeh.
After see others getting this i would hope it is just a F/P

FreakShowOz,
Welcome to the community!
I see that this problem is reported in the WoW forums as well. Interestingly, one user claims that the Norton techs resolved this issue by downloading/installing N360 4.1.0.32.

I can't quite see the logic as to how it could have helped in resolving this problem (if it is an FP). Regardless, I'm going to ask you what is the version of N360 that you are using. If you are not using N360 4.1.0.32, I would highly recommend that you try this and let us know how you get on.
In the meantime, please submit the file in question to Norton. Yaso has given you the link to upload the file for the Norton engineers to look into it.

I am also submitting the file asap.
Thanks.

Hi guys,
Just wanting to let people know that this was indeed a false postive on our part and has been removed. The file was first detected by rapid release definitions 20100515.002 and subsequently removed from the 20100515.040 set. For those folks not using rapid release definitions, the corresponding certified builds were 20100515.004 (detected) and 20100515.048 (removed).
I've given kudos to Yaso for his advice - both about submitting the file to us and also for adding the link to the article about reporting false positives. Great stuff Yaso, much appreciated and surely aided in getting this detection removed quickly.
Apologies to everyone who was affected by this. I've asked our QA team to look into it, and also to reach out to Blizzard Entertainment to see what can be done to avoid this happening in future.
