activations

had Norton 360 on desktop-computer.

got lap-top; installed Norton 360 on that;

     took desk-top computer off-line when Norton account on it expired.

the  Norton 360 package allows coverage up to 3 computers;

tried; message tells me that I'm not eligible.

site tells me that I AM eligible, and that my current coverage has more than 320 days remaining.

tried to chase down a straight answer, without success;

keep receiving instructions which accomplish nothing except run in circles.

i need clear,  simple, accurate directions on how to remedy the problem.

Re: activations

A 3 PC version allows you to install on upo to 3 different computers in the same household. But the clock starts running on all 3 from when you activate on the first PC.

You say your Norton Account expired so if you mean your subscription expired then it expired for all three -- you can't daisy chain on one PC.

I'm misunderstanding can you correct me ... and explain what you mean by the Norton Account expired ....

Did you try to install one of the copies on a new PC or what?

Re: activations

in chronological order:

installed Norton on desk-top computer.

much later, got a lap-top computer; installed Norton on it.

by this time the Norton package on the desk-top was nearing it's expiration-date;

I let it expire, as I hardly ever went on-line with it anyway.

later yet (some days ago), I up-graded from dial-up to cable; it goes to the desk-top computer.

have been trying to add it to the other package, as advetised.

the Norton package is NOT expired - the site states explicitly that:

     1. there's more than 320 days left on the activation, and

     2. that i'm authorized up to 3 computers on it.

none of that is in question.

the problem is that I can't get clear directions on how to add the desk-top;

messages which don't address the issue send me to other pages - which don't either,

and none of them have the obvious necessity:

an option to deal with INDIVIDUAL issues not covered by generic procedure.

Color me still confused since you say you let it expire and then that it is not expired .... but you don't say that you bought a new copy and installed it on the laptop or that the new laptop came with Norton on it .....

When you say "the site" do you mean your MyNortonAccount ?

Anyway, let me assume a normal situation that you have a desktop with expired Norton 360 on it and that you have a new laptop that came with no security software on it so you went out and bought a retail copy for 3 PCs and installed it on the laptop .....

Is that correct -- if not please correct it.

Let us also assume that the version of N360 expired on the desktop and the copy you purchased and installed on the laptop is N360 V5 and that both are standard versions and not one standard and one premier ....

Is that correct -- if not please correct it.

When you installed N360 on the laptop you activated it using a key that came on the package (or came by email from Norton if you bought from them) and tht you have that key visible, either from writing it down or by going to your MyNortonAccount where it becomes visible if you click on the entry for N360 that you installeon the laptop.

Is that correct -- if not please correct it.

You can activate the expired version on your desktop simply by clicking on Renew or Subscribe Now or whatever the screen says and you should get a box to enter the KEY in -- you can copy / paste it from the MyNortonAccount which saves typing and mistakes -- the box will reformat it into groups; enter it as all one string.

However then you will have an activated N360 on the desktop that is out of date. You can  upgrade an activated V4 with a valid subscription by going to the Norton Update Center but I think there is a shortcut on the Support menu to check for newer version ....

Is that what you need?
