I thought I did upgrade last December.

I was just renewing before, but thought I was updating the last time.

I paid about double the regular renew price, for an upgrade. Did I do something wrong?

I'm sorry I know so little about this. If I only renewed, I will upgrade, can you tell me how I can find out? or would the version number have changed when I did it?

Thank you so much for helping me.

Your version number would have changed if you had upgraded but it is important that we ascertain what version is on your system. It would appear that you still have version 1. Where do you back up to with 360 Backup?

Do you use the backup

Re: ccSvcHst.exe error plus a lot more.

Yes I do have backup. My norton sits down by the clock at the bottom right of the desktop, and when I click it, it shows, 4 boxes, they are PC Security, Transaction Security, Backup and Restore, and PC Tuneup. I also noticed that the Backup says disabled.

However, I backed up online once, but have since backed up using my own CD's, it took 6 of them. I didn't really want to use that part of the program, so I haven't used it but that one time. Does that help?

Did the backup mean backing up MY files, or did it mean backing up the latest version? Did I stop the program from being able to do the changes I asked for?  The last backup? See, I am not good at this.

Sorry, I didn't notice the page had changed.

Re: ccSvcHst.exe error plus a lot more.

HI sheila6325

Since you aren't worried about backup then upgrading to the latest versioin, that should stop your errors, is relatively straightforward.

1 Download the Norton Removal Tool from this link and save it to your desktop

http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&ssfromlink=true&sprt_cid=1...

2 Download Norton 360 Version 3 Standard Edition from the following link and save it to your desktop

http://www.norton.com/n360s_3

3 In Windows go to the My Documents\Symantec folder and open the file Norton360_Key.txt and make a note of your product key.

4 Double-click on the Norton Removal Tool on your desktop allowing it to run and remove all Norton products from your PC and then reboot your PC

5 Double-click the Norton Removal Tool for a second time and allow it to run and then reboot

6 Now double-click on the Norton 360 file you downloaded and follow the prompts to install it. The install process should pick up your product key but have it to hand just in case it is required.

7 Once the installation is completed you should run liveupdate from within Norton 360 until it tells you there are no more updates.

Now you should run a full system scan with Norton 360 and also check to see if your ccsvchst error has gone away and whether you can now use Internet Explorer.

Let us know what happens.

Re: ccSvcHst.exe error plus a lot more.

I'm so thrilled that I have your solution. I will be doing a backup before working on your instructions. I found that my backup was older than I thought. I can't thank you enough for helping me. I will work on this as soon as I can, and will let you know what happens.

Again, Thank you.
