I welcome the club - unfortunately....
Just until 2 days ago I had v5 of Norton 360 installed. I had to do a fresh installation of windows 7 64 bit on my PC and when I installed N360 I was greeted with the new version (had no idea there was one). Never had a single problem with the older version (great work Symantec!).
Now I started adding program rules to the firewall setting. It worked fine until today. I must have hit a magic number because it was working fine for a number of rules I added. Now, as soon as I try to add a firewall program rule it crashes. I am glad I am not the only one - already thought something on my fresh win7 installation went wrong. Unfortunately, there is no solution yet? Wow, that is disappointing. All I can say is that my subscription is running out and if this doesn't get fixed within a few days I will switch to another software package, very simple. Sure, you may not care, but this thread (got moved here from original thread with identical problem in NIS) is proof enough for me to consider this.
just wanted to make sure another user is added to the "Symantec, please fix this problem" list.
cheers

thank you for the quick reply and offer to help. I reverted back to version 5 and all is good.
what is interesting is that v6 was running fine for almost a full day and then all of a sudden started acting up whenever I tried to add a program rule (I've added about 10 program rules and one port when it started acting up).

Hello,
I have been facing a constant crash of Norton 360 Version 6.0.
It is happening while changing/configuring firewall.
Also Norton Autofix fails to find a solution!
Fault Module Name: SYMHTML.DLL
Error: 8504, 104
So I have got in touch with a Chat Agent.
As I was advised, I did a fresh install and even ran the Norton Power Eraser.
Product was removed using Norton Removal Tool as well.
Also the error is same in all of my three computers.
I had to downgrade Norton 360 to Version 5.0
Norton, please provide a solution fast, as this is one of the most advanced protection from you.
And failing like this just makes it less reliable.
Thanks.

Hi legen-dary,
It sounds like you may be experiencing the same issue as has been reported in the following thread by users of NIS 2012.
It you are, in fact, seeing this behavior, please respond to Tim Lopez' request for data about the crashes. If the problem has now surfaced in Norton 360, your input could be valuable:

I am having the exact same issues described in the linked thread to the NIS problems. On 3 different machines. All running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1. I read through most of that thread on NIS and it sure appears to be the same behavior on both products. I did the NRNR method on 1 machine and it appeared to work fine, until I started adding rules for the firewall. I have a 4th machine that I clean installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1 and have had NO issues thus far. I upgraded 3 of the machines and only one failed after the reboot to complete correctly, thus forcing me to use the NRNR. I REALLY hope that it is not going to require an OS reinstall to squash this bug.

Has anyone had any success in getting this resolved yet?

Hi BullSpit,
This week, Forum Administrator Tim Lopez was able to reproduce the behavior in Norton Internet Security 2012, so the team working on the issue now has something to go on. The problem is being investigated but it is hard to know when a solution will be found and a patch released.
