help - Norton product subscription expired but not letting me input new product key to renew.

We had Norton 360 version 3 on 3 home pcs. The expiry date was today and i have been trying for the last 2 hours to renew. i have got CD Norton 360 Version 4 to update - My norton account states expired and does not show the new product key for the CD . Do i reinstall and try again from the start?

I am not a technically minded person and struggle each year with renewing and uploading new versions. i have spoken to someone on phone about half an hour ago and the lady from Norton told me to go into www norton.com/downloads. i did this and it is asking for me to buy another subscription . I dont want this as that is what i bought the CD for - new version and to update subscription.

Please help.

Your Norton 360 V3 is very old since we are up to V5 now.

We can give you full instructions on how to get uptodate on the 3 PCs but can you tell us how you "attempted to renew"? Have you gone to the Norton Website and purchased a renewal and paid for it with a credit card? If so your MyNorton Account that you log into probably with your email address and a password show that you have renewed and that your N 360 is due to expire a year from now?

But with your Norton expiring today here is what you should do to get a few days protection and it's why the Support person said to go to downloads.

This will work without you paying anything today but we need to know how you renewed.

We don't know what version of N360 has of the 2 subversions listed below so if you do not know please ask us and we don't know what version of Windows you are using but I'd guess XP or VISTA with V3

Here is a link to the new Norton Remove & Reinstall tool  that, like the older Norton Removal Tool removes most Norton Products from your system, but the newer tool uninstalls the Norton products from your computer and reinstalls the latest version of your Norton security product.

Note that the instructions there say  --  Your Norton product subscription must be current. So if your subscription has actually expired please let us know and we can give you an alternative route.

When you tell us about what you did to renew we can guide you further on what to do next. You said <<  i have got CD Norton 360 Version 4 to update >> do you mean you have a copy of N360 V4 which had not been used before and so you have an activation KEY that has not been used or do you just mean that you could install from a V4 CD?

Please let us know how you get on or if you have any queries ....

Hello Calm

If what you mean is that you have a boxed version 4 of N360, you will need to download the proper version of version 5 that matches your version 4. If your boxed version 4 is the standard one, then the download has to be version 5 standard. If the boxed version 4 is the premier one, then the download has to be version 5 premier. The keys are not interchangeable.

once the proper product is installed, then you should be able to put the new key from version 4 into the box that comes up when you hit subscribe. Once you are able to install the key into the product, then it should show up in mynortonaccount.com properly.

Please do not reinstall using the version 4 cd, you will just need the key from the box. Thanks.

Edit: Since the user says the product expired today, I think she will have to go the NRT method since her subscritption is not current now.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Re: help - Norton product subscription expired but not letting me input new product key to renew.

sorted my Norton 360 problem myself. I uninstalled and then put the new cd in . I got norton 360 version 4 then got the free update to version 5. Maybe the two or three hours of swearing at the computer worked too. thank you for your replies . will bear in mind that next years renewal may be best online. :womanhappy:
