Re: how can i detect if i have a virus on my computer but norton wont pick it up

norton will run in safe mode but not i safe mode with networking, it also runs in normal mode. I downloaded malwarebytes along time ago so should i just scan it again, i did like 3 days ago and nothing came up

yes it scans but the numbers stays at zero. also in safe mode networking i try to connect norton with one click support and it tells me  that i need to unistall and reinstall norton because something is wrong but it only says that when i am in safe mode networking

If you are still suspicious and want to rule out malware it wouldn't hurt to run another Malwarebytes' scan.  Be sure to update the product first so you are scanning with the latest virus definitions set (and not the same set you used for the previous scan).  Otherwise, you could opt to do nothing further except observe your PC's behavior for a few days and look for any obvious outward signs that the computer is acting differently or strangely.

That is because the Norton product does not run in Safe mode at all.  So you will get errors if you try to use any feature (such as One Click Support) other than the scan.  When you scan in regular Safe mode (without Networking) does the scan run normally and not stay at zero?

yes and no.  i tried to run it in safe mode and it ran but stayed on 0 at first so i restarted it in regular mode and it scanned  so i restarted it in safe mode and it  scanned that time

i tried to run the malwarebets twice and both times it stopped and did not finish. i don't know why it stopped the first time but the second time it said commands    stop-out of space     or something like that.

bigrick18:

This seems to be an issue that has come up as far back as September.  When you run a scan in safe mode, do you use right click only to start the scan?

Avoid safe mode with networking because you are not protected when the internet connection is open.  Norton does not work other than a right-click scan.

When you installed Malwarebytes, did you choose the free version?  Try downloading it again, but use the save as and change the name to iexplore.exe.  After it is installed, go into the program folder and change the MBAM to iexplore.exe as well.  Update it and run a full scan in normal mode.

You have not said what other security software is running on your machine?  Have you got Spybot, DrWeb, or some other?

Under certain circumstances profanity provides relief denied even to prayer.

Hi bigrick18,

Prior to your monitor going blurry, had you noticed any other random PC glitches recently?  Freezes or shutdowns?  Video problems?  What were you doing on the computer when the monitor went blurry and the PC became unresponsive?

Re: how can i detect if i have a virus on my computer but norton wont pick it up

Sorry it took so long to respond. I do not have any other security system running just norton. Also before i download Malwarebytes again should i unistall the one i have on my computer.  Norton runs in safe mode okay now and normal mode but it shows nothing infected, but malwarebytes in safe mode shows nothing but in normal mode it always shuts down my computer before it finishes usually right in the middle. My question is shoud i unistall malewarebytes before i download it again or download it under a different name. Thanks
