infection?

Hi Guys

Apologies Im not very technical! I have been receiving emails from my wife who is currently in Japan. The emails say click here to see attached photos. I clicked on one of  these titles and I was directed to a site called Zinga.com. I had to create a user name and password. I thought I needed to do this to access th photos.

I ran a full Norton scan which has detected nd resolved three threats. However I am still receiving these emails.

I tried downloading the Norton Power erazer. It said initialisation failed. Please check your internet connection and proxy settings, and restart application.

I don't know how do do this or even if i should.

Could anyone offer advice with this please?

Re: infection?

Hi whiteduke,

What threats did Norton detect?

If the email appeared to come from your wife, it is possible that her email account has been compromised.  Is she reporting any other similar incidents with any other people in her contact list?

Re: infection?

Hi,

I would like to know which email client you are using. Norton is compatible with outlook and outlook express.

There are people over the internet who use the fake pages to steal identities like user names and passwords. So be careful while creating a user name and passwords or login to any websites

Try running the Norton power eraser in Safemode with networking

Please follow this, To how to restart the computer in Safemode

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mf...

If you thing there is any virus on the computer, Try to restart the computer in Safemode and Run a full System Scan.

Try using the norton dns in you IP configuration settings

Start - Control Panel -Network and Internet - Network and sharing center -change adapter settings - Properties -> Internet Protocol V4 -Properties tab - Type the Norton DNS http://dns.norton.com/ and then Try running the Norton Power Eraser

Thanks,

Murali.
