sunday afternoon I rebooted and received pop-up messages regarding aol files that needed to be installed and a message regarding my ati graphics card having problems. Both messages looked fake and I ignored them. However, I was unable to connect online or scan my computer with mcafee. I purchased norton 360 but cannot install it. I made an emergency boot disk from your website and ran it and 7 viruses were found. I was able to remove 5 but Trojan.zeroaccess.b and Trojan.patchep!sys couldn't be removed. Can you please help me get rid of these viruses? Any help you could offer would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

You need to uninstall McAfee first and then use it's Removal Tool.

I can't install. I get a MSG that says "an error occurred while trying to uninstall...it may have already been uninstalled" What should I do now? When I ran the norton 360 scan from the boot disk, I was able to get the name of the file infected with zeroaccess - it's located in windows/installer and ends in 80000000.@ the patchep!,sys virus did not appear in the found viruses section of the scan results. Uninstall McAfee and then use the McAfee Removal tool, you can't have McAfee and Norton on your system at the same time.

I cannot uninstall mcafee. I tried using the mcafee uninstall option on the start/programs menu and then uninstall through control panel. What is the next step?

I will not be removing the infection with more than one AV fighting me and the infection.

Run the Removal Tool in Safe Mode.

The instructions Include using either add/remove programs or accessing an online option. as I indicated, add/remove does not work and I have no internet access. How should I proceed?
