Hey guys, i just installed norton 360 v3.5 on my windows 7 computer then did the live updates till i got the 3.8 version but still it not allowing me to activate with my key, after i type/paste my serial in it says "Activation not complete: No response received from the Symantec server". My internet connection is working because i am able to connect to sites. I tried looking to see if windows default firewall was blocking it but its not...so what do i do from here to get my product to register?. i know its a windows 7 problem because i know other ppl who use it on vista and it works. What do you guys recommend i do?
Thanks.

Hello Gmoney89
Welcome to the Norton Users Discussion Forum
Have you rebooted your computer after receiving all the updates? Did you paste your key in the correct place and is it a current valid key?
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Do you already have a Norton account? Are you a new user to Norton or have you activated other Norton software after 2006? What security was on the machine prior to the new install and how was that removed?

yes i have a norton account and the key...the key isn't used yet...if it said invalid then that would be something else but it doesn't even connect to the symantec server. I was just talkin to sum1 who was having the same problem and they to have win 7, they said up to this day they couldn't get a fix for it so they're now using kaspersky.

I am also running Win 7 and have no difficulty connecting to the Norton servers. I can assure you that whatever the problem maybe, it is not the combination.
Look in your history>firewall activities> to see if anything is prevented from accessing the net. Also advise if you are behind a proxy, like a university or work connection. You did not answer the question about other security software and how it was removed.
If this was a new laptop, was there any other program preinstalled?

Its a new computer, it came with a trial of Norton Internet Security 2010. I unistalled it with the removal tool twice. I also checked the windows firewall and nothing pertaining to norton/symantec is being blocked so i don't know. And no i'm not behind a proxy.

What about checking the N360 firewall. I think Windows firewall should be turned off by default. The info you supplied should make it easier to determine the cause.
Are you connected via router, wired or wireless, or a ADSL box. If you go to Norton settings, can you see the connection in the network map? If it shows, set the level to trust. If you are able to connect with other programs, it may be that the security in the router if you have one, does not allow the Symantec server to answer.
