Since installing Norton 360 on my Dell XPS 9100 running Win 7 Pro the system has been unable to create a system restore point.
This is preventing Windows updates from running.
I receive the following error message when I try to manually create a restore point.
The restore point could not be created for the following reason:
There is not enough space on the disk (0x80070070)
There is lots of room on my hard drive and chkdsk shows no errors.
I've run The System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) but it found no errors.
The services Volume Shadow Copy and Windows Backup are running.
Has anyone else had this problem after installing Norton 360?

Go to start
In search type cmd
right click on cmd and run as administrator
type in cmd
vssadmin list shadowstorage
I think the restore point is created on D drive.

My D: drive is the DVD.
I ran the list and received the following display which seems to indicate that there is lots of space available.

By the way - A Dell Tech deleted all of my restore points (over my objection) when he was trying to fix the problem. After doing that and not fixing the problem he gave up and asked me to call Dell's paid support line.

Do you have Bitlocker Drive Encryption Service enabled as automatic? (check your services listing to see)

I'm not using any encryption on any drive.

So no one has an answer for this.
I'll have to try uninstalling Norton 360 I guess.

ronf47,
I don't think this error have anything to do with Norton. To make sure that Norton is not the cause, please uninstall Norton 360 using Norton Removal Tool and check if you can create a system restore point.
If the problem persists even after removing Norton, then you may need to contact Dell Support.
Thanks,

It looks like it is turned off. The Dell guy may have turned it off to clear the restore points and not turned it back on.
Verify it is on.
Then run: services.msc and make sure the service "Volume Shadow copy" is running and set to automatic.
