jbmoulton,
Take a look at message 20 in this exact thread, it describes exactly how to do what you want.

Message 20 says nothing of running the Norton Removal Tool, in fact the issue of WinFax pro is a known problem with running the Norton Removal Tool and Norton Safety Minder.
For clarity, here is message 20 again:
Ok so instead of everyone continuing to post I can't uninstall because my password doesn't work, I will post instructions on how to do it here.
However if you are a child trying to work around the system, this will not work as your parent is notified when Norton Safety Minder is uninstalled.
I say that because I believe there are "newbies" here trying to remove the software
step 1, remove your network cable step 2, uninstall - this will cause your system to not check the password as it will be unable to without the network
That's it.

Hi,
I'm having a very similar problem. I installed Safety Minder but it was not blocking any web sites. I verified the setting multiple time (to block all categories) and tried it on multiple user accounts. I received the same results were no site were categorized and there none were block. If I explicitly marked a site to block then it would work. I tried uninstalling safety minder, but the computer froze up on the uninstall. After a reboot, every time I run the installer it tries to continue the uninstall, hit an error, gathers logs, compress them, and (if I choose to) send the logs. However it says to continue by clicking the link below but there is no link. I can't get the program to finish the uninstall so I can install again. I'd like to give your product a fair test. Can you please help resolve this issue? Thanks.

Hi Hi There,
I too am unable to unintall this product, I am running Windows Vista, the product builds the log to unintall and then get the error message 'unable to uninstall', it then sends a report to Symantec.
I have tried the suggested, unplug the network cable etc. but this didn't work either.
Let me know what I need to do. Thanks.
