Hello,

I would like to uninstall Norton Safety Minder and Norton online from my XP machine. When I try to uninstall them from the "Add/remove programs" I don't get any pop-up window asking for password. Instead, a window appears for a fraction of a second and disappears and nothing else happens. Please advise how to uninstall them.

Hi,

you can try 'add/remove programs' in safe mode too.

if you have a problem uninstalling, you can try the Norton Removal Tool ( www.symantec.com/nrt ).  consider the fact that this will remove all Norton programs and settings except the Identity Safe data if present.

Have you tried to uninstall Norton Safety Minder by going to Start/All Programs/Norton Safety Minder/Uninstall Norton Safety Minder?

Hi,

I've tried uninstalling it from the Start->all programs->etc.  It didn't work.

I've tried the Norton removal tool. It failed to run stating that I need to close some Norton fax software. I don't have this software...

I've tried logging as Administrator in safe mode and uninstall it. It didn't work.

Is there anything else I can try?

Removing the network cable doesn't work. I couldn't find anything that works in those threads. Please advise.

What happens when you try the steps in second link that I indicated in my previous post?  Please make sure you restart the PC after you uninstall Norton Safety Minder.

Before Norton Safety Minder gets installed on the PC, the program will uninstall the existing Norton Safety Minder from the PC first.  You can try the steps to

* uninstall Norton Safety Minder

Or

* uninstall/reinstall Norton Safety Minder (hopefully by then, you get a working NSM installed), then you should be able to uninstall NSM again from the PC.
