I have Norton 2.1. Is this compatible with Firefox 9.0.1? Will it ever work with Safari 5.1? This version of Norton automatically downloads for my computer. I have a Mac, 10.6.8

Mac version Norton Safety Minder 2.1 is compatible with Firefox 9.
The Mac team is currently working on the compatible issue with Safari 5.1.
Yes, all the updates are downloaded automatically via Norton LiveUpdate.

I think it's unfair to name it "issue", it sounds like calling snow in winter an "issue"... there's already half a year since Firefox has this release cycle, which for all practical matters guarantees every second month the week-long downtime of all its Norton add-ons. Just for the record: the next "issue" is programmed for March 13 so we shouldn't expect child safety at least between 13-20 March.

I hope you are complaining on the Firefox site as well.
Firefox basically has no way of moving plugins forward, so instead they just disable all of them. Not a great solution for users, good for them as they don't have to worry about being forward compatible.

I'm sure they have their share of complaints, however I see in my add-ons list only Norton Safety Minder being disabled.
And secondly I fail to see why they should feel about the products some commercial company builds... it's not like Mozilla claims to support Norton, but rather the other way around.
