Safety Minder is now compatible with FF 11, in fact we are working on compatibility with FF 12.

What do I need to do to install the new version?
I did liveupdate. I reinstalled the entire NIS suite and safety minder. The latter was again installed by Norton support staff but Norton Safety Minder 2.2.0.38 is still incompatible. I even reinstalled Firefox. Am I missing something?

The version of Norton Safety Minder that you want is 2.3.0.18
You can go to the onlinefamily.norton.com website and download directly from there.

Thanks for the link. I downloaded that and tried to install. Process went up to 'starting processes' and I got a window to retry installation or exit. When I retried it deinstalled and installed again with same result (retry/exit option). When I look in Firefox I have the old 2.2.0.43 safety minder add-on.
Previously today I used Norton removal tool to remove the entire Norton suite and reinstalled everything again. Same result. Norton support staff tried (logged on to my computer) and same result. Can you give me a pointer what to try next?

I tried that and I still have the same retry/cancel window and the 2.2.0.43 addon installed.

Hi tetz,
Please tell us what version of Norton Safety Minder you have on the PC. Right click on the Norton Safety Minder icon, a dog paw in the system tray and select “About Norton Safety Minder”. You should find the version number.
Thanks,
Katie

Following your procedure I get this version: 2.2.0.43
This is after removing everything with the Norton removal tool, reinstalling NIS2012 and downloading Safety Minder using link on
http://onlinefamily.norton.com.
Before downloading I emptied the Firefox cache just in case.

I found the problem.
NSM_Installer downloads into c:/users/public/public downloads/norton. When you download different versions the files get appended a number at the end but still the version without number added is used.
Something like that anyway.
Removing the 'norton' directory before running NSM_installer fixes that.
I'd call this a bug. Also the Norton Removal Tool doesn't delete this directory but it should that for a fresh start.

Hi tetz,
Thanks for the update. I'm glad to know you've figured it out.
What Operating System is running on the PC?
Thanks,
Katie
