Re: Macintosh issues with Norton Online Family

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply.  The Mac team for Norton Online Family is currently working on the feature to be compatible with Safari 5.1 and beyond, but I"m sorry we don't have a release date yet.  When I have any update on this, I'll post it here.

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Macintosh issues with Norton Online Family

HI slytle,

Let's first make sure you have the correct version of Norton Safety Minder installed on the Mac by the followings:

Click on Norton icon on the menu bar

Select Norton Safety Minder

Select Edit Accounts

You will see the version # of Norton Safety Minder installed on the Mac as Norton Safety Minder ver. 2.xxxxxx

We are working on the features to monitor activities on iOS devices.  They are going to be available in the future releases.

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Macintosh issues with Norton Online Family

Hi Katie,

I followed Mike's advice and Norton Safety Minder now works with Firefox. I'm not sure why that did not automatically load when I installed the new version.

BTW, I am running 2.2.3f9.

Thanks for the iOS update. Filtering for these devices can't come quick enough.

Thanks

Great.  Thanks for the update.

You have the latest Norton Safety Minder for Mac, which is compatible with Lion.

Thanks,

Katie

Hi,

I did download from NOF main page, as KatieQ suggested, but the only version I get is "Norton Safety Minder 6.dmg", which after live-updates gets to v2.1.5f100.

Maybe some malformed useragent detection on that page leads to wrong file download...

I can't find "Norton Safety Minder 7.dmg" which would bring me to 2.2.3f9: can you please provide a complete URL specifically pointing to the actual file to download.

Thanks.

Re: Macintosh issues with Norton Online Family

Ok,

I could make-up the URL, based on Norton Safety Minder 6 file I got, and could download Norton Safety Minder7.dmg from here.

The Installer app show v2.2.1r6 in Finder info.

When I install it, Installer refuses to select my volume because Mac OS 10.5 is required!

I'm running 10.6.8, and tested it on several machines...

Please, can we have an easy access to a working version?

Thanks.

Re: Macintosh issues with Norton Online Family

Hi macmpi,

When you click on the download link on the main page, it downloads the correct version of Norton Safety Minder to your Mac.  The 2.2.xxx version is for Mac OS Lion.  For your OS 10.6, The NSM version 2.1.xxx is fine.

Please uninstall the Norton Safety Minder from your Mac and reinstall Norton Safety Minder from the Download link on the NOF main page.

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Macintosh issues with Norton Online Family

Thanks Katie,

However NSM version 2.1.xxx on 10.6 does not work with relatively recent versions of Firefox (v8, v9), therefore it does not offer any protection at all.

How is that v2.2.xxx is for Lion (10.7), and while I try to install it says it requires 10.5?

Thanks.

Re: Macintosh issues with Norton Online Family

macmpi,

Norton Safety Minder 2.1.xxx should support Firefox 8 and Safari 3.x through 5.0.

What happens when using Firefox 8?

Thanks,

Katie

Hi Katie,

Thanks for your answer.

It seems the firefox plugin got desactivaded within Firefox 8.0.1 some way...

After some tinkering managed to get it back, and it seems to work now.

Now, I'd like to move to FF 9: is it supported by NOF under 10.6.8?

Thanks.
