I have been working in the IT business for 22 years, and I'm surprised that Norton Safety Minder doesn't have an uninstall software/option, since the program can't always tell when it has been already been installed on a computer. I had to revert my Windows to restore point before I installed Norton Safety Minder. Unfortunately, I now have the software installed on my hard drive, but Norton Safety Minder can't tell. I also can't run the uninstall option from Control Panel, since Windows can't see the software, and when I try to reinstall Norton Safety Minder (i.e. install over the top of the old version), the Norton Safety Minder creates an error log stating that the framework can't load.
Is there any fix in the works? I really just need to be able to uninstall Norton Safety Minder, and this seems to be a frequent request on this message board. According to the Symantec Knowledge Base, the Norton Removal Tool will not remove Norton Safety Minder (i.e. only other Norton Producst, such as 360, Internet Security, etc.). There has to be a better option than just wiping Windows and restarting.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi robborja,
Thanks for the post. Norton Safety Minder does have an uninstall software option. Maybe the program was not being installed property on the PC, and that' why you don't see the uninstall option. I have sent you a PM with steps to correct the issue.
I would be more than happy to setup a remote desktop access and work together with you on this. You're welcome to send me a private message or an email for details. You can find my email address at http://community.norton.com/norton/profile?user.id
Thanks,
Katie

KatieQ,
Thank you for the information on how to uninstall the Norton Safety Minder. Once I was able to uninstall the software, the reinstallation of Norton Safety Minder worked great.
Based on your private message, I understand that on some computers, this information could allow someone to circumvent the parental controls. As a general rule of thumb, I never allow my children to have accounts with "Administrator" level permissions, which reduces the likelihood that they would utilize this procedure to turn off the parental controls. I recommend that other parents follow this procedure, as well.
Thank you for your assistance,
Rob

I am very interested in uninstalling the Online Family Safety product. I was interested in learning about it and now I have it installed. I am an educator and wanted the information but have no one at home that needs the security of this product. Please help.

I need help. I am not able to uninstall this program at all. When I try to log in with my email, it's asking me to provide valid login information. I'm able to log into my norton account, but not into the saftey mind bender.
