I have tried a number of times to install this product. The version I have is 1.0.3.18. I go through the installation as normal but after I agree to terms, the window goes away. In the bottom right corner is the icon for this product with a red "x" on it. It says "Norton Safety Minder. Setup is not complete. Click to complete setup.". When I click on it nothing happens. If I go through the exercise of reinstalling it removes it, makes you reboot and then installs and the same thing happens again. I like the concept of this product. Can someone give me some insight?
Thanks!

What OS do you have? if it is windows, can you check whether the Terminal Services are running?
1. Start menu > Run> type in "cmd"
2. In the command line, type "net start",
3. Check whether "Terminal Services" is in the output list.
Thanks

Thanks for all the right questions:
Windows XP SP 2;
IE 8.0, Firefox 3x, Chrome, Flock and Safari;
All accounts are admin;
No other Symantec software installed;
McAfee 8.5i (disabled for the purpose of troubleshooting), Spybot (Tea timer disabled), Uniblue Powersuite (includes Registry cleaner, Perfomance enhancer and a spyware killer-Disabled).
After the install I see the icon on the system tray with a red "x". Click on it and NOTHING happens.

Thank you for providing that information.
Can you confirm for me that you have take the following steps, please?
1. Uninstall the Norton Safety Minder client via 'Start==>Programs==>Norton Safety Minder==>Uninstall Norton Safety Minder'.
2. Restart the machine.
3. Disable McAfee, Spybot and your other spyware killer.
4. If you do not have it saved on your PC, visit the Web Portal(https://onlinefamily.norton.com/familysafety/login
5. Run the NSM executable and follow the instructions. Do not 'Cancel' it at any point.
If you have not yet tried this particular approach and in this order, please do so and let us know the results.
Thank you.

I do have same issues.
My configuartions same as mentioned in the thread except I use Norton 360 for Anti-virus etc,
I did all the steps you mentioned above.
I disabled the anti-virus of Norton 360 - however kept Firewalls enabled.
When it started "starting services" the window terminated and I have the icon n the bottom tray with "setup is not complete. Click to complete setup." - Unable to click/double-click - no results.
My system - Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.
The log file - nsm file is having 0 bytes and oxygen file has following info -
[05/02/2009 21:12:45] Failed to send message 39 for application 2, with error 0x800704dd
[05/02/2009 21:12:45] DataStore synchronization completed
OPS database file is also created in this directiory.
Did anyone resolve this issue yet?
