I've been having trouble with Norton Safety Minder since upgrading an Intel-based iMac to Snow Leopard (10.6.3 and now 10.6.4). My issue is that enabling "Only allow selected applications" in Apple's built-in Parental Controls results in repeated requests in Parental Control enabled accounts as follows:
You don't have permission to use the application "SymUIAgent.app". (The specific detail is com.apple.familycontrols.override)
Normal behavior is that once supplying credentials for "Always allow…" is that these requests don't appear again. With Norton Safety Minder, these happen at every login (not a fast user switch) into a controlled account, sometime twice in a row.
There are also several somewhat disturbing Console entries, such as:
7/8/10 9:10:26 PM parentalcontrolsd[1339] -[ActivityTracker userAgentPort] [2317:user] -- *** Couldn't find user agent port.
7/8/10 9:10:26 PM parentalcontrolsd[1339] -[ActivityTracker appBlocked:reason:] [553:user] -- *** Couldn't find userAgent port

There are a number of reasons I do not want to allow all applications into controlled accounts, so while that would solve this problem, it is not desirable.
I'm currently running Norton Safety Minder 1.3.1. Version 1.2.x ran fine with this combination of Norton Safety Minder and Apple Parental Controls application restrictions under Leopard (10.5.x). Version 1.3.1 runs better than 1.2.x under Snow Leopard but this "non-sticky" SymUIAgent.zpp application permission issue is problematic.
Any ideas as to what the issue is?

Hi mqchards,
We don't recommend users to use other parental control products and NSM at the same time. Other parental control products could block Norton Safety Minder from retrieving the information it needs. We would suggest you disable or uninstall other parental control product first, and see the issue is solved or not.
Thanks,
Katie
