Hi cjm,
Please make sure the Chat Supervision is ON under settings -> Instant Messaging
OnlineFamily.Norton supports AIM, but we don't support Web browser based clients of AIM.
What version of AIM is the kid using?
Thanks,
Katie

Chat supervision is turned on. So that isn't the problem. It is AIM 7.1.6.4. Other info. is: windows xp service pk 3, Internet Explorer 8 and NSM version 1.2.1.7. Hopefully you can help me. Thanks.

We do not support version 7 of AIM.
AOL decided in version 7 to no longer support plug ins, and as such we cannot monitor the traffic as we have done in the past.

It is not clear from the latest post from Norton Employee Matt_Boucher on March 24, whether AIM 7 will be supported in NSM in the future. I recently upgraded our child's system to Windows 7 and the latest version of all software, which includes AIM and discovered that the Chat Monitoring for AIM does not work. With Cyber-bullying, Sexting, and other Social Media Networking being of so much interest to concerned parents, I would hope that fixing this problem would be a top priority issue within the Norton / Symantec world.

eborows,
The only thing I know definitively is that AOL currently does not support plugsin, and as such we can no longer capture their traffic with AIM version 7.
We have asked AOL for support but so far have not heard anything of them being able to support plugins.
Matt
