My son has proudly told me he has hacked the new norton family software and obtained unlimited computer usage.
On investigation he has used the norton internet security program control to block the norton on line software going on line to notify me of computer useage etc outside of the allowed time. I am not sure if this also includes notifications of visting banned sites etc.
I have the current settings to only notify me if time exceeds allowed, not to log him off . However he seems to have found a way around this on the first day i installed the software.
Do you have a solution for this?

Thanks for your information. Please make sure your son doesn't have administrator rights on the PC he uses. Otherwise, a smart kid will be able to find a way to get around of being monitored. Is it possible you could give us some details on how he uses Norton Internet Security to obtain unlimited computer usage?

My son does have administrator rights, he is the only user of the laptop, He is 14, and uses the laptop supposedly for schoolwork where they do do some software work in making games etc at school.
I think that taking away administrator rights would compromise his laptop use for school.
I believe he is using the norton internet security " program control' in the firewall options to block the on line family from reporting to me.
Since he has done this i have received no more email reports, so it is obviously a problem..
What would solve it is a password on norton internet security "program control" so he can not use it to block the online family norton from reporting, is this possible?

You can set a password in NIS to protect settings.Open NIS and go to Settings then Miscellaneous Settings.
