Will the fix for this handles leak be worked into the NIS 2013 Beta....and how soon?

I don't suppose it would be worked into NIS 2011 also?

I believe the fix is already in the latest NIS 2013 beta. It is also being worked into NIS 2011 and N360.

Has the fix been rolled out to Norton 360 6.2.1.5 yet?  I am still hitting the leaks and am at 10,004 handles for System.  Earlier today I had to disable/re-enable Norton to stop the leakage

I'm very sorry for the incorrect information earlier, but apparently the NIS and N360 patch releases have been held up in anticipation of Microsoft's Windows 8 RTM, which I beleive is scheduled for late July or early August.

In the meantime, this problem can be worked around by clearing out your web browser's downloads folder either by deleting the files there or by moving the files elsewhere.

Again, I'm sorry for the misinformation about the patch release date.

Has this issue been fixed by NIS 19.8.0.14, released today?

Yes, this 19.8 patch that went out today contains the fix for this issue. Please let me know if you run into further issues.
