1. Is the correct way to install the nis09/nu combo is nu first, then nis09 ?
2. Comparing the nis09/nu combo and n360 v3, which one  is better ?

What is nu?  I Apologize if everyone else knows and it's just me who doesn't!

A little birdy told me the abbreviation may stand for Norton utilities? Is that correct TYC?

The answer to your second question is N360 v3.  I have used this and it works very well.  Having all functions in one 'suite' means the parts should work better together (at least you won't get any scheduling conflicts or such) than if they were in separate programs.  I am not sure of the amount of control you have over certain functions in NU (registry cleaning, for example); N360 has taken the road of 'we know best so you don't have to mess with it'.  It is truly the first suite I have seen in years that once you set it up you can forget about it and it will take care of itself.

Do take careful note of what dbrisendene correctly says:

If you have used NIS and or NU before and are accustomed to setting them up to work the way you prefer then you may feel frustrated by N360 which really is for the "fit and forget" user.

If you go through the N360 Forum here you will see quite a few messages from people asking how to go from N360 to NIS because they could not adjust settings to their liking.

For example if you do not want to use its backup facility it will nag you and your warning flag will be on Danger -- you can't tell it that you have not forgotten to make a backup; you use a different method.

I think you will find more and more powerful utilities in Norton Utilities, as one might expect, than those included in N360 although I have not yet looked at them in action .... and then of course there is also Norton SystemWorks which can provide you with the full Norton AntiVirus plus utilities. e are spoilt for choiice ....

I agree with what you say and just wanted to add that N360 v3 does not bug you about backups if you leave the backup settings alone.  I ran it for two weeks and never had a warning / fault / message about the backups not being done.  You are correct about the 'customization' ability of N360 however.  Everything works very nicely but, for example, you can not set a defrag level to trigger a file defragmentation run.  The product was designed to be installed, FEW simple settings and it runs basically in the background and doesn't bother the user.

I have it on my home computer which mainly my wife uses and the number of phone calls that start out with "I have a problem..." has fallen to a level where I call to make sure everything is all ok.

I'll check when I'm over in N360 which I have on my WIN7 Test Bed but I'm under the impression that the ! on the system tray N360 icon and the "Gadget" calling for a fix were due to my not having made a backup -- it certainly shows up on the main screen in words IIRC.
