3-user account locked in?

I have NAV 2010 on 2 pc's with my 3-pc account (me, wife, laptop). Everything is ok with them. Recently my old pc has begun to fail so I bought a new one. How do I move the account from my old pc (specifically) to the new pc. Norton folks say I just install NAV on the new pc and use my auth code to register it and all will be good.... and here's the kicker...but they say I can't select which pc to remove from the account. So what happens when I activate it on the new pc? Does a random pc of the 3 get removed? Or all 3? Or none? I hate surprises.

Thanks

Hi GaryDoug,

First remove NAV 2010 from your old computer (the one which is failing). Since you're a user of NAV 2010, you can upgrade for free to NAV 2011. You can read more about NAV 2011 and the minimum system requirements over here:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/antivirus

In order to install NAV 2011 on your new computer, please do the following and download and save the latest and full NAV 2011 installation package to your computer from this link:

www.norton.com/nav11

You will also need your Norton product key in order to activate Norton 2011; during activation, your subscription days will be picked up automatically by Norton. You can fetch your product key from your Norton account:
http://www.mynortonaccount.com/
After installation, please run LiveUpdate in order to obtain the latest updates and reboot your computer.

During activation, a notification may pop up saying that you have exceeded the number of allowed activations. If this happens, please contact Symantec Customer Support, and they will reset your activations for you. You can chat with them for free over here:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/contact/contact.jsp?pvid=cs

Note: please remove any preinstalled antivirus software from your new computer before installing NAV 2011. Do not install NAV 2011 "over" the preinstalled software and let NAV 2011 remove the software, otherwise the installation will most probably by unclean/flawed.

Thank you. You are very concise about this. I wonder why the online person could not convey the information as clearly. I will give it a shot.

Re: 3-user account locked in?

Hello GaryDoug

You can also upgrade your other computers to NAV 2011 since your subscription is current. If those computers aren't having any problems with NAV 2010, you can just install NAV 2011 over the top of those. They will pick up the remaining days of your subscription also.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.
