3047,53 --- Big time crash

I'm running NIS 2010  (got it cheap).  I installed on March 5, 2012.    It was running perfect until mid April.    Then I got the infamous 3047,53 error.

My Norton account allowed me to upgrade to resolve the issue.  The download was installed and it knocked out IE 8.   I could not get back into the internet!!

I booted my XP SP3, using a recover point.    However Norton was then gone.  No longer on my PC.

I reinstalled NIS 2010 --- However it didn't take and flashed a upgrade screen.

Since I couldn't get NIS up on my PC, I re-installed the XP operating system from scratch.  All software was installed nicely except NIS.  --- When I installed NIS it clobbered IE 8

Anybody else experience this???  Any suggestions.  As a stop gap measure I'm using a competitor Internet Suite, but would prefer to use Norton product.

Re: 3047,53 --- Big time crash

Hi Gary

Welcome and Sorry for the trouble you are having. Please Run the Norton Removal tool from here and then Run a Check Disk in your Computer --> Install the Norton Internet Security from here and activate it using the product key(if you are prompted).

Check Disk: Start --> Run --> Type cmd --> Type chkdsk /r /f    hit enter --> Type y --> Restart your Computer, Check Disk will run Automatically.

Thanks

The procedures that you suggested worked.   I'm back up and running using the NIS

Thanks again

You mentioned using a competitor Internet Suite. Please be sure you have gone to the competitor's site and use their removal tool to completely uninstall.

All companies recommend having only one A/V running at a time. More than one can cause conflicts with unknown problems.
